Announced last year, GM’s Ultra Cruise will be the first advanced driver assist system (ADAS) to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Ride Platform. This includes the Snapdragon SA8540P SoC (system-on-a-chip) and SA9000P artificial intelligence accelerator. According to the carmaker, these Qualcomm chips consolidate modules for driver monitoring, mapping, and video processing into one box. This allows for improved system latency. The chips will deliver “low-latency control functions on 16-core CPUs and high-performance AI compute of more than 300 Tera Operations Per Second for the camera, radar, and lidar processing”....

So if you like slapping skins on your Razer Blade laptop, you now have loads more options. Skins are available exclusively on Razer’s own website and can be picked up for all of Razer’s current laptops. While the BMW and Kia cars only support NFC technology on Samsung’s Digital Car Key, the two Genesis cars support both NFC and UWB (Ultra Wide-Band) technologies on compatible Galaxy models such as the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The UWB technology uses radio waves to make short-range wireless communication. Digital Car Key allows users to lock/unlock their cars, “open the trunk, start the engine, and adjust seats and mirror positions”....

The Japanese Red Cross reports sending out “62 NDRTs (National Disaster Response Teams) with more than 400 staffs including Doctors, Nurses, Admins sent to the affected areas for Assessment, First Aid, Health, possible PS (Psychological Support Programme).” The American Red Cross is providing shelter, provisions and comfort to those in Hawaii and the West Coast who were forced to evacuate their homes. It will also be transfering financial aid to the Japanese Red Cross to support their efforts....
