Omnibox is the search and URL bar that you see at the top of Chrome on Android. It has been around since the initial launch of the browser back in 2008. The single field lets you make searches on the internet or enter URLs to visit a website. Google has improved its functionality over the years with new features, but Omnibox hasn’t seen many design changes. A rare redesign is now in the works, with the company looking to “modernize” it a bit....

This will help users to narrow down their searches using accompanying text. For users who shop online quite often, they can simply add commands to specify the garments they are looking for. For instance, if you have an image of a color-blocked shirt, and you are looking for similar items, then you can simply use Google Lens and add the command, “socks with this pattern.” It will show you results of socks matching the pattern of the image of the t-shirt....

This might paint a not-so-pretty picture, but of course, it’s not always a bad thing. This is America: land of the free, home of aggressive marketing. Competition improves the product after all. And as consumers, this is most certainly to our benefit, leaving us spoiled for choice. But it’s when it all gets to be too much that we get stuck in some sort of buyer’s inertia. We are genuinely at a loss as to what we really, truly need....

Google, like some other companies out there, have two embargoes on these phones, so we are only able to talk about certain things for now. In this hands on, do not expect to hear about battery life (it hasn’t been long enough anyways), the camera, or software. That will all be in the full review in the very near future.
